The historical and cultural significance of Maharajganj, a district located on the eastern edge of the Uttar Pradesh region of India, near the border with friendly nation Nepal, is well known. This district has always held a distinct identity in the fields of culture, civilization, and courage. It also boasts the ancient republic of Ramgram, associated with the life of Lord Buddha, who taught the world the lessons of truth and non-violence, and the presence of Devdah, a flourishing trade center. Nichlaul, a tehsil in this district, also boasts a proud history as the birthplace of King Ratnasen. However, today, this tehsil area appears to be bleak due to the lack of educational expansion. While there is adequate provision for secondary education in this region, it still lacks quality higher education. India has a rich and glorious tradition of higher education. Since its inception, India has been renowned as the world's guru in the field of education and knowledge. Ancient educational institutions like Takshashila and Nalanda, among others, still bear witness to this in the pages of history. To preserve the glorious past and dignity of these heritage sites, and to address the lack of quality higher education in the tehsil area, "Om Prakash Manav Vikas Sansthan" established "Om Prakash Mahavidyalaya" under the patronage of the deity Panchmukhi Mahadev Ithiya, in the peaceful and picturesque environment of the village council Bahuar Kala, nestled in the lap of nature on the banks of the ever-watering Narayani River, near the border between Nepal and Bihar state, within Nichlaut tehsil. Teaching has been running smoothly and successfully since the 2011-2012 academic session. The college offers classes in Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Sociology, Education, and Home Science within the Faculty of Arts. Sports and cultural activities are also conducted, successfully promoting the all-round development of students. Proper guidance and additional classes are also provided to students in the field of competitive examinations, enabling them to gain a strong foothold in this competitive era.
